Final Days in Quepos
Our favorite restaurant, El Gran Escape, closes its doors each October to wade out the rainy season. Not a bad idea, as our last two days in Quepos where pretty wet. The Hotels in the area like to market this time as the 'Green Season,' which probably sells more rooms than marketing the 'Rainy Season.' During this time the morning's are pretty dry, but the bottom usually falls out sometime after lunch. I would strongly recommend visiting Costa Rica before October 1st or just wait till it dries out.

We did manage to out and hike a small nature preserve the morning of the second to the last day. Fortunately, we had guide for our hike. Guides are great because they spot all sorts of wildlife that you wouldn't even know was there. The photo to right is of a frog sitting on a leaf (double click if you have trouble spotting him). It seems like everything in the rain forest is camoflagued and you practically have to step on it in order to see it. (Amy found this out while we were hiking in Arenal, she missed stepping on snake by about a foot. It was not until it slithered away that we knew it was there.)
The rains started shortly after our hike but we still made to El Gran Escape for lunch and then Dinner.
