Baptized and Crawling

I don't post nearly as much as I should. Not only so that they few people who keep up with us can know what's new, but also so that I remember as many details as possible. I've been letting lack of photos dictate my posting, but no more. I will post with or without a picture. The most important thing that has happened lately is that Cole Reynolds was baptized yesterday. It was a beautiful ceremony and Cole behaved himself wonderfully. All of the family (Geoffrey included) were at the ceremony except Tysa, who had to work. We were all proud to welcome Cole Reynolds into the Christian faith and blessed to witness God's grace come upon him. The baptismal font has a well with the water and a little sink like thing over which we hold him when the priest pours the Holy Water over his head (and he poured a lot). Cole sat at the edge of the"sink" part and just scratched and scratched the metal sink during most of the ceremony. Towards the end of the probably 15 to 20 minute ceremony, he got bored with that and he decided to play with the cross that is on top of the big metal cover that goes over the baptismal font (probably about three feet in diameter). It brought a smile to the face of the priest. I think he could tell we have a feisty little guy on our hands, but he had to feel that he was on the more well behaved end of the spectrum of kiddos who get baptized since he didn't really utter a peep until the very end. Not even the pouring of the water over his head fazed him. He possibly looked a little confused as to why he was having water poured over his head when he clearly was not in the bathtub, but he didn't vocalize his confusion. Cole Reynolds also did well with the little brunch we had afterwards. He opted not to take a nap (other than a short nap in the car ride home) but he powered through till about 3:30. He is such a little trooper when it counts.

In other Cole news, he is getting even more active if that is possible. He crawls pretty darn fast these days. It is still not a true up-on-all-fours crawl, but he does use all four extremities in the crawl. This past week, he has started pulling up on things to his knees and even to his feet. The pull up to his feet is a little more tenuous, but the pull up to his knees is very common and he clearly likes the new vantage point. His favorite thing to pull up on at the moment is his diaper caddy, which is about a foot tall.

Cole has very much enjoyed having his uncle Geoffrey in town. It was a short visit this time, but he loves playing with Geoffrey. We wondered if he would get him confused with my dad, but he didn't.

Finally, though probably not very exciting and probably likely to change since I'm posting about it, but Cole Reynolds has been sleeping to 6:00 am or later for the last several days. Joel and I are super thrilled by this development!! Any time that starts with a 6 is so much better than anything that starts with a 5, even if the real difference is only 10 minutes--its something psychological.

Joel and I love our little guy so much. Every day is a new adventure, and therefore, such a treat.

I will post a few pictures of the baptism and other pictures soon.
