Happy Boy

A lot has happened since my last post. Cole Reynolds is changing and getting more and more active each day. The above picture is from Cole's 6 month photo session. Though I'm biased, I think we can ALL agree that he is pretty darn cute.
A week or so before his 6 month birthday, Cole had his first "solid" food--whole grain brown rice cereal--YUMMY!! He LOVED the cereal and clamored for each bite. Here are a couple of pics of the big occasion.

Cole Reynolds also had his 6 month birthday celebration since the last post. This was a big day here in Romanland. Six months!!! Where in the world has the time gone?? My little boy is half a year old. It just doesn't seem possible. For this birthday celebration, Cole Reynolds had a carrot cake. The nice lady at Tom Thumb offered to put his name on the cake. I guess I should have thought to tell her how to spell "Reynolds" because the cake said "Happy Birthday Cole Renolds"--oh well, it's the thought that counts. Since I accidentally had his 6 month clothes shipped to my office, which were going to serve as the birthday presents (despite the fact that Joel has informed me that getting clothes for your birthday as a boy is a total non-event), Cole got a butternut squash. This is in line to be his first non-cereal solid food. I'll post pics of that when it finally occurs. All things considered, he seemed pretty excited about his present--why spend $5 on a new chew toy when you can just buy one gigantic butternut squash for $1.50.
Cole has become quite mobile. Once he mastered the 'roll every which way till you get where you want to go' technique, he moved on to the one arm, one leg crawl method of locomotion. He pulls his body with one folded arm while he pushes off with the opposite leg. At times, if his timing is not just right, he finds himself stuck in a yoga-like pose on the verge of tipping over (a modified triangle pose for you yogis). It makes me laugh ever time. We have found that there is nothing to motivate this crawl like an electronic device. Like a moth to a flame, Cole cannot resist a strategically placed phone or computer.
Another big event (though not exactly in a good way) is that I am back at work. So far so good. Cole Reynolds is behaving himself for his grandmothers 95% of the time I would say. Naps are still touch and go. I miss my sweet baby boy every minute of every day when I'm not with him, though I hope he is having fun and not even missing me at all. I'd be lying if I said he's having much separation anxiety. It seems that he has not skipped a beat, which is a best case scenario. He does seem awfully excited when I get home--in the same way he gets excited to see Joel at the end of the day when he gets home from work. The happy face, giggles and smiles are priceless and melt my heart every time. We are definitely blessed with a great little boy.
Finally, though not least, here is a closing pic of daddy and Cole Reynolds chillaxin on the couch in their robes. It doesn't get any better than this.
