Back in Black
No picture today unfortunately, but I realized today that my last post was a bummer so I wanted to update everyone with a positive development. Cole Reynolds is back in black--back on the weight chart that is. My angel has broken the magical 20 pound mark. Yay!!! Now, just to clarify, there are two "weight charts". There is the Center for Disease Control weight chart and the World Health Organization weight chart. The CDC chart was the chart primarily used by pediatricians until recently. The WHO chart is now the preferred chart (even by the CDC) for children under 2. The CDC chart, which uses a different methodology than the WHO chart, has a steeper curve meaning that a child must weigh more to be on the chart and that for any given weight, the percentile in the CDC chart will be lower than the WHO chart. Our pediatric practices uses the CDC chart--not sure why. Our GI doctor uses the WHO chart. Cole is probably still not on the CDC chart but he IS on the WHO chart at roughly the 10th percentile. Joel has pledged to run a race corresponding to Cole's weight chart percentile. He better start stretching. I don't think Joel thought Cole Reynolds would jump to the 10th percentile so quickly or that Dr. Russo's goal for Cole would be the 50th percentile. I think Joel was thinking more marathon and less ultra-marathon. Anyway, long way of saying we are making progress. Now if we can just get Cole to drink the formula, we could lose that tube!
