Going Camping

Today, I dropped off my sweet baby boy for his first day of camp. To say I was anxious is an understatement. We got there early because early is always better than late and because that way I wouldn't have to abandon him immediately upon getting there. We were directed to his "classroom" with Ms. Liz. Geoff and I walked in with Cole and he immediately went to the little table and sat in the cute little chairs---which are bite sized. I would LOVE to know where they get those teeny, tiny chairs. He started playing with the all the animals and other toys on the table too. We were probably there for at least 5 minutes before the next kid got there, so he got a chance to get familiar with his surroundings before having to stake his claim. Yes, that is exactly what he did. Not when the first little girl came in, who, by the way, dwarfed my kid, but once the next couple of kids came in, he darted to one of the chairs he'd tried out so far and made clear that that chair was his. Then, he cut in front of a little boy and grabbed the biggest horse on the table....again, I imagined him to be saying, "This horse is my horse, find another one." Uh, oh. Hope he learns to share at camp. After that, I gave him a pat on the head and headed out. I wish those places had two-way mirrors because I just wanted to make sure he was ok without him seeing me staring at him over the little half door. I had to settle for looking in through the window to the back of the class room from a window in the corridor. He was still carrying around the horse and looked like he was having fun. Geoff assured me that he was fine, so we left. It is now 11:00, which means he made it through the full day of camp. ;-) Yes, that's right, camp is 2 full hours a day for one week. No call, so I presume he made it without waterworks. So, the reason there is no picture with this post is because I forgot to take one. Pretty awful, huh? Who forgets to take a picture of their kid on their first day of "school"?? Oh well, I'll take one tomorrow and try and spin it as his first day in a few years when he asks.
