Yay for No Inflamation

I don't update the blog nearly as much as I should or want to. Time gets away from me. However, just so that everyone is in the loop, we got great news last week. Biopsy results delivered Friday confirmed that Cole Reynolds has almost NO INFLAMMATION in his esophagus. We were beyond thrilled. We were cautiously optimistic on Wednesday after Dr. Russo told us he thought the esophagus looked great, but we'd heard that before only to learn otherwise when the biopsy results came back. This time prayers have been answered!!

Today, Cole had an evaluation at Medical City's Rehabilitation Services, which treats feeding disorders. We may still opt to go the Baylor Our Childrens' House route, but Medical City could get us in much sooner and a friend has had good results, so we decided to give it a try. Although the approach is different than Baylor, it is complimentary and will only put us ahead of the game if we ended up seeking treatment there. Fingers crossed and lots of prayers that Cole will get with the eating program soon. Joel and I are more than ready to get that tube out of Cole Reynolds' sweet little nose.

More good news is that about a week ago we started giving Cole Elecare by mouth. He doesn't love it--who would--but he can be cajoled into drinking between 6 to 12 ounces of it per day. I won't disclose all the methods we use to motivate, but I have introduced Cole Reyonolds to the iPad. To say that he has a minor obsession is putting it mildly. Sometimes when he wakes up, he makes the "wheels on the bus" motion with his hands, which means he wants to play with the iPad. Surely I will get a pass on this one transgression in my mission to keep Cole away from mindless entertainment.

Other updates in Cole-world are that he is talking more. He doesn't say a whole lot, but he is definitely adding a word or two here or there. For example, when we finish a book, he says something that sounds a lot like "the end." Makes me laugh. It is a one word combo, but it clearly is intended to be "the end." He also is perfecting his "apple", which he calls for a lot, but doesn't yet eat a lot of. He also says "pop" for popsicle, "no" for many things that he doesn't want to do, "agua" for water, "beep beep" for trucks of all kinds, and "mimi" for my mom and Joel's mom (and really anybody he deems to be of grandma age). In sign language, he says please, where, what, want, sorry (sometimes), hat and his favorite, more.

Cole is still working on the rest of his 8 new teeth. On the bottom, the eye teeth and 1 year molars are almost all the way through. On the top, we are still working. He is a super trooper and rarely complains!

I need to get back to work, but I wanted to update the blog with our good news!
