Unfortunately, I am not talking about the Texas Tech Red Raiders, but my backside following a fun filled day snowboarding. This is not an exaggeration, I wanted to post a photo but Amy quickly shot down that idea. Somebody once said that falling hurts worse on a snowboard versus skiing. I am now an expert in falling while snowboarding and can without question assure everyone that falling really does hurt worse on a snowboard, especially when you are just learning. Eventually, I fell enough to learn how to fall gracefully as opposed to the 'catch an edge' and immediately being slammed to the snow (packed snow which feels much more like cement).
Eventually, I got to the point where I could ski a Green slope like I knew what I was doing (tip of board pointing down and carving turns back and forth). Once, I had the Greens down, I stepped it up to the Blues where I was able survive a blue using the patented (at least after today) Christmas tree method. This method consists of staying on the back edge the whole time and zig-zagging down the run. It looks weak, but beats going down on your face or backside, neither is fun.Today was was a beautiful sunny day, the kind that you could ski in a tee shirt and never be cold and the snow held up wonderfully despite the sunlight, so I switched back to skis for the afternoon . I have never been happier to be on skis in my whole life.
If I can move in the morning (and don't see signs of internal bleeding) I might give it another go.
