Potty Time
He will probably hate me in 12 years when he finds out I posted a picture of him on the potty, but I consider this one to be rated "G" in all respects. As an aside, this is the pair of pajamas he is OBSESSED with at the moment. So, although this picture was taken last week, it might as well have been from today. The only difference is that he has more stickers on that day than he did today. Otherwise, the same socks, undies and pjs. I didn't endeavor to potty train Cole Reynolds until he was around 3 years old. Truth be told, I don't mind changing diapers, and honestly, sometimes I think it is more convenient to carry your toilet on your 2 year old body. In any event, I did encourage curiosity about the potty and even bought some big boy (or train, as the case may be) underwear. Well, Cole has taken the bull by the horn. First it was just a #1 experience. He clearly knew when he needed to go (almost always anyway), and it took the offer of "pop pops" for him to want to go in the toilet. Then I went back to work. As a fundraiser, they were selling these little stuffed animals for $5 each. Since I felt obligated to buy a few anyway, I figured I should put them to good use. I strategically selected a reindeer as one of the animals. When I got home from work, I showed it to Cole and asked if he liked it. He enthusiastically said he did so I explained that if he went #2 in the potty it would be his. He pondered the idea for a bit. I could see the wheels turning. By early the next morning, I received a text indicating that Cole had "earned" his reindeer. Yay!! Well, the tiger, the zebra and the teddy bear didn't work as fast, but they were eventually earned as well. When I was out of stuffed animals and could see how expensive this was getting, I told Cole that if he went #2 in the potty 5 times he would get a special surprise. He did his best to go all five times in the first day, notwithstanding that he usually only goes once or twice a day. It was pretty funny. Today his special surprise (Hiro the Train) should arrive. Hoping he loves it for all his hard work!
Below are a couple of pics from today. The one of both of them is maybe the cutest one so far. Love those kids!!
