Is there anything better than doing nothing?

Today I have been tasked with the blog entry--Joel is on a bloggy break. I think that the break coincides with the fact that we didn't do anything today...which is exactly what I wanted to do. Doing nothing is really what I do best, and today was my day to excel. Joel still managed to find an activity or two even here at the hotel. Just to run through my day, since it is a lot quicker to do. I got up late, hung out on the balcony reading a book while looking up occasionally to admire the ocean, went down to the pool and occasionally looked up to admire the ocean, had lunch, won a very contentious debate on why I should get to do nothing today, went back to the pool, got ready for dinner and went to dinner at a great beach bar (see picture below)--perfect day!

Now for Joel's day. He got up late as well, went for a morning snorkel/morning on the beach, found me for lunch, complained about how doing nothing was boring, tried to get me to go snorkeling in the bay, tried his hand at wind surfing (see picture below), entered and came in second (by a hair) in a hobie cat regatta (which I wish I had a picture of, but I was busy reading at the pool), went to dinner at a great beach bar--not so perfect day.

Though I triumphed today, my trade off is a day of adventure tomorrow. We will be renting a dingy (see illustration below...ours will be a two person version) at Cruz Bay, St. Johns and snorkeling along the coast. Sounds great in theory, but the reality is that Joel is not exactly one to lean on the side of caution. As with golf carts, he believes there are only two speeds--stopped and full throttle. Let's hope that his near victory on a sail boat today will translate to excellent navigating on a dingy. Now, back to finishing my day of nothing....
